The new Waste Act will mean that the separate collection of packaging waste in the operating region of Kiertokapula will be extended to properties in built-up areas with at least five (5) residential apartments. At the moment, the minimum is ten residential apartments, with the exception of cardboard and plastic packaging waste, for which the minimum is five (5) apartments. Obligation to collect or compost biowaste to expand in 2024
In 2024, the collection or composting of biowaste will become mandatory for all properties in built-up areas with more than 5,000 inhabitants and their peripheries. Select area B on the map to see the area covered by this obligation.
Even after the change, composting is still a permitted and preferred way to treat biowaste. If biowaste is not composted, it must be collected on the property in a separate biowaste container. Collections in our municipalities will begin in stages during 2024. More information about the arrangement of collections will be announced closer to the change.
