The following are accepted as scrap vehicles:
- cars
- motorcycles
- mopeds, scooters, electric scooters
- trailers
- camper vans
When delivering a scrap vehicle to Kiertokapula’s waste treatment site, you need to bring with you:
- its registration document
- your official ID
- a power of attorney signed by the owner of the vehicle if you are not the owner
Parts that affect material value must not be removed from scrap vehicles. Gas cylinders, refrigerators and toilet waste must be removed from camper vans. There must be no waste other than one set of tyres (4) inside the vehicle. Other additional waste will be charged for in accordance with the price list. Partially dismantled or already deregistered vehicles are also accepted as scrap vehicles. Only vehicle parts (e.g. car door or bonnet) are accepted as scrap metal.
Kiertokapula handles the deregistration of the vehicle and the deliverer is provided with an official scrapping certificate. The vehicle’s information (identification based on registration number or serial number compared to the information in the registration document) and ownership (whether the surrendering party has the right to deliver the vehicle in question for scrapping) are ensured at our site.
Camper vans are accepted as miscellaneous waste in accordance with the price list. If necessary, an official scrapping certificate is provided for registered camper vans.
More information
In Finland, scrap vehicles are subject to producer responsibility, according to which the vehicle manufacturers and importers have an obligation to arrange the recycling of scrap vehicles at their own expense. In Finland, the approved producer responsibility association for scrap vehicles is Suomen Autokierrätys Oy.
Within the framework of producer responsibility, scrap vehicles can be delivered free of charge to all official collection points, such as the Kapula, Karanoja, Lumikorpi and Puolmatka waste treatment sites of Kiertokapula. Scrap vehicles are not accepted at the Metsä-Tuomela waste treatment site in Nurmijärvi.
